ABOUT ME

Ruta Zukaite, Dip.Couns MBACP
Experienced Counsellor

AEDP therapist

I am an experienced AEDP therapist. Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is a therapeutic approach that offers a unique and effective method for working with trauma. The effects of trauma ripple through every aspect of life, leaving no stone unturned. Mentally, it can manifest as anxiety, depression, flashbacks, nightmares, or a pervasive sense of fear and distrust. Physically, trauma may manifest in symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, digestive issues, or chronic pain. Relationships may suffer as trust erodes and communication falters under the weight of unspoken pain.

My approach is rooted in fostering deep connections and facilitating transformative experiences. I am dedicated to creating a supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Through a blend of attachment theory, neuroscience, and experiential techniques, I guide clients in exploring and processing their emotions in real-time, leading to profound insights and healing. My goal is to empower clients to cultivate greater self-compassion, resilience, and authentic connections in their lives.

My counselling practice is guided by a belief that we all have a natural impulse toward self-healing/self-correction when we feel supported. I feel passionate about my profession. I am so grateful for all the times I could witness beautiful transformation in my clients. My aim is to help individuals get in touch with their inner voices, regain their sense of self and strengthen their resilience to overcome difficulties that they are facing.. My approach is relational, experiential and emotion-focused. It stems from research on attachment and neuroscience. Our conversations will be compassionate explorations of your emotions, somatic experiences, and formative experiences while having a new and good experience with me that heals old wounds.

If this still sounds alien to you, I'd like to tell you a little bit more about the way I work:
I work with emotions so if emotions are coming up I may stop you and ask if we can slow down and let the emotions come. I also work very relationally. So I may check with you during our time together and ask if you are feeling I am understanding you, if you feel I am with you. I also work experientially which means I focus on what is happening right now - in this moment. You may be telling me about something that happened yesterday or a long time ago - and I want to hear about it and I'd also like to stop you and ask what you are experiencing now as you are telling me this. I may ask you about your family of origin, about your childhood, about adolescence as experiences in these stages of life have a great impact on how we see ourselves and how we see others.
